Pure Pilates Teacher Training
Pure Pilates Teacher Training (PPTT), centrally located in the North in Ilkley (near Leeds, York and Manchester) offers Romana’s Pilates International (RPI) Instructor Training, the world’s most respected and comprehensive Classical Pilates Programme.

Romana’s Pilates instructors teach the exercises and philosophies of Joseph and Clara Pilates as handed down to their world-renowned protégé, Romana Kryzanowska, and later her daughter, Sari Mejia Santo, and granddaughter Daria Pace. Romana’s Pilates are dedicated to preserving the legacy and the work of Joseph & Clara Pilates. RPI is globally recognised and has studios in over 50 countries.
Kirstin Ferrie, a level IV Teacher Trainer, with over 25 years in the Pilates industry, has committed herself to creating a supportive, nurturing and fun environment in which to learn.
PPTT has a supportive team of other RPI instructors and apprentices in which to work with, alongside a close relationship with our UK, Europe and Global network of RPI teachers and teacher trainers.
The RPI Teacher Training Programme
Certification Progress
The programme requires 700 - 1000+ apprenticeship hours and typically takes 12–18 months, depending on your availability. The certification process includes:
3 independent 2-3 day seminars, Basic, Intermediate and Advanced, covering all exercises on all apparatus, safety and modifications, best teaching practice, tips and techniques.
3 practical tests (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced)
4 written tests (1 Intermediate, 3 Advanced)
The final Advanced test is overseen by one of only thirteen people worldwide qualified to administer this exam. This ensures the highest and most consistent standards for all graduates.
Training Commitment
10 - 15 hours per week in the studio divided between:
observation
weekly sessions with the teacher trainer
apprentice mat class
practice teaching (independently and supervised)
independent practice
Every Friday afternoon apprentices participate in a 2 hour workshop at which attendance is required.
Entry Into The Programme
The first stage of your journey is to advance your own practice. Romana’s Pilates believes that you must embody the work before you can teach it. You don’t need to arrive at Pure Pilates Ilkley fully advanced. You need dedication, discipline, and a willingness to work hard.
